¿Por qué molestarse? / Why bother?

Si… y no.

It is inevitable, sooner or later you end up asking this question: Why do I bother? It inevitably comes as an overwhelming urge that comes from the depths of your frustration.
Today has been one of those days, one day that you just want to send it all away and start again. Rebooting your life in a cave or in a forest, any place far from civilization, where no one hinders you and no one can bother you. And it's no wonder.
I woke up with a headache, exhausted, sleepless, full of stress, with dark circles around the eyes. Just imagine waking up like that? I think this is what is called: start the day with the left foot. Normally, on a bad day, all you want is to end as soon as possible to start the next one, but in this case, it was bad from the start and I couldnt expected for it to end soon.
What happened? Nothing really, the usual for a person like me, whose nature is to interfer in the lives of others. And this is because I can not see anyone in need of emotional, or sentimental, aid because the desire to help that person becomes a priority as voracious as the hunger or the neeed for sleep, forcing me to take my body to the most incredible limits, even forgetting my own needs and priorities. Am I doing it for charity, or because I'm nice? Yes ... and no.
Why do I do it? Because I can not see a person in trouble; either emotional or sentimental; without feeling a sort of duty to help him, which causes me a fervor. I go into a frenzy in which I tend to wear me down more than necessary with the problems of others, no matter to a what degree takes me, as long as I can take these people out of their holes. I have to do it, otherwise the uneasyness becomes a lost soul that haunts me until I manage to forget it; and unfortunately I can not easily forget. It's like a self-imposed moral obligation. Messianic complex? Perhaps.
And it is because psychological, sentimental and emotional problems are, for me, enigmas, riddles that need to be solved. They are the ones that gives a special flavor to my life, that makes me feel alive. Enigmas such exquisite and delicious that I have become addicted to solving them. They are my crosswords, my mazes. This sounds somewhat like fun, and it is, for me. But it also sounds tedious for the person unable to stand on my position, and it really is, not always, tedious. But, it is tiresome, exhausting.
It is worse for a person who tends to empathize to a degree that he must devour every feeling to achieve to understand the situation of that person and then help him/her. Sometimes I exile myself to eject all the feelings of others and reconnect with my own emotions and feelings.
Still, I'll keep doing it at will, as it is also my way to approach and connect with people. It was in this way that I won my best friends, my confidants and even my current girlfriend. I know of no other way to connect, or rather, not one that is as effective to me.
It is in this way that I condemn this twisted pleasure of destruction and reconstruction. I call it this way because I self-destruct myself helping others, and when I do it, I also  rebuild myself stronger and also, I like to think it, wiser. Certainly, for me, it perfectly applies to me the words of Jean Paul Sartre: "Hell is other people."
Anyway, I'll keep doing this. Because, why bother?, because this is my nature.
